Amar’e Stoudemire on campus at The U today.
Congrats to UM graduates DeQuan Jones (@DequanJones5) & Trey McKinney-Jones (@TreyMJ04).
Will Allen, the first African-American basketball player in the University of Miami history is sprouting a nationwide movement encouraging residents in low-income communities to reverse their health issues through urban farming.
Allen co-wrote a book, The Good Food Revolution (Gotham Books, $26), and will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a presentation by Books & Books at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Blvd.

Losses:G Malcolm Grant (eligibility), G-F DeQuan Jones (eligibility), G Ryan Quigtar (eligibility).
What’s lost: Grant is the only departing player to average double figures in scoring for the Hurricanes last season (10.8 points per game). He took 206 three-pointers last season, 99 more than Miami’s second-place finisher in that category. Almost everyone else of note will be back for Coach Jim Larranaga’s team.
… So, too, will Miami’s Reggie Johnson. Combined with 6-11 Kenny Kadji, who can do damage from the perimeter, the 6-10 Johnson will continue to be a handful in the lane …
36. MIAMI
Analysis: Jim Larranaga will have this program moving in the right direction.
23. MIAMI
THE SKINNY: No one wants to talk about the Canes in the ACC — but they won’t have a choice. Durant Scott and Shane Larkin will be a dynamite back court for Jim Larranaga to go with a lethal 4-5 tandem of Kenny Kadji and Reggie Johnson. Rion Brown, Garrius Adams, and Trey McKinney-Jones return to provide quality depth along with freshman combo guard Melvin Johnson.
5. MIAMI
Once this team gets healthy, the rest of the ACC should be put on notice. Jim Larranaga’s first season with the Hurricanes was spent rarely at full strength — but if that changes in year two, Miami should be a regular installment in the Top 25. Shane Larkin and Durand Scott are two quality breakdown guards and Trey McKinney-Jones is a “swiss army knife” type that can do a little bit of everything. Up front, Kenny Kadji and Reggie Johnson should be one of the better power forward-center combos in the country and Rion Brown is a veteran wing with accurate range from deep. Keep an eye on freshman combo guard Melvin Johnson, an efficient scorer when given extended minutes.
